Zoi Dimitriou

The Company

Zoi Dimitriou founded her company in 2006 with headquarters both in London and Athens. The main focus of the company is the exploration of contemporary artistic expression with the art of dance being the principal medium. This exploration revolves around the negotiation of movement, text, sound, light and set as a prerequisite for the development of a new language for dance and theater.

The body, in all its manifestations is the main subject of the work, always searching for a quality of transcendence, while maintaining a strong sense of what is humane and capable of expression.

Works of the company include the soli Can You See Me? (2006) and Dromi (2008), and the duets Goddesses in Exile (2008) In The Process of… (2009 short version & 2010 full-evening length) and You May! (2012). These works have been featured in internationally renowned venues and festivals and have brought the choreographer major UK choreography awards like the Robin Howard Foundation Award 2008 for her duet Goddesses in Exile and the Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund Award 2009 for In The Process of ..., a work which also made it in the top ten of Aerowaves 2009.
